Job Summary: California State University, Fullerton is searching for an Assistant Director of Operations. The Assistant Director of Operations should have a positive attitude, an active, energetic mind, and a leadership style that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.
Under the general direction of the Director of Physical Plant, the Assistant Director of Operations manages a comprehensive facility maintenance and repair program for the University buildings and utility infrastructure, including HVAC, water, sewer, and electrical systems. Is responsible for operating and maintaining our Central Plant and Trigen Facilities, including a 4.5MW turbine and generator installation, chillers, boilers, cooling towers, TES tanks and related equipment. Responsible for operating and maintaining major building technology systems such as: Energy Management, Lighting Controls, Fire and Life Safety, and Elevator Controls. Provides support to a variety of construction projects, both major and minor. Manages the maintenance, repair, modernization and regulatory compliance issues for the University. Develops and manages related Energy Managers. Develops and manages related fire and life safety elements of the Campus infrastructure including fire alarm or suppression systems, and campus elevators. Manages and administers service contracts. Other duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications: Thorough knowledge of building systems and construction methods, particularly mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems. Progressive management experience, including knowledge of employee relations and other employee development concepts. Knowledge of budgeting, procurement and contracting procedures. Knowledge of all applicable safety rules and codes.
