Job Posting: Summary of Essential Job Duties: In collaboration with the Manager of Patient Safety, Quality Improvement, the Program Manager will have responsibilities for day-today patient safety department operations and human resource functions. This position is designed to support patient safety efforts to achieve Health System strategic goals. The Program Manager must demonstrate initiative, resourcefulness and problem-solving skills in applying a detailed knowledge of the responsibilities, functions and underlying management structure of the department and of the larger Health System in organizing and prioritizing work, establishing procedures and systems and ensuring the orderly and timely flow of business. This includes supervision of departmental resources, regular review of progress, and ensuring appropriate coordination of efforts and approvals. In addition, the supervisor is responsible for communication and cooperation of the organization management teams to facilitate patient safety activities in accordance with accreditation, regulatory, licensing requirements and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center rules and regulation. This responsibility includes facilitation of multi-disciplinary system wide improvement teams and synthesizing process and outcome data from multiple sources into meaningful and manageable information for presentation to senior leadership, including department chairs. Responsibilities also include investigation and assessment of significant adverse events, supervising the Patient Safety Associates, Quality Assurance Coordinator and the Patient Safety Organization Liaison. The Program Manager will supervise all quality of care inquiries, and Safe Medical Device Act failures within the Patient Safety Department. Additional responsibilities include data set construction, data analysis and presentation, and managing information pertaining to clinical Patient Safety issues and discussion and presentation with Senior Leaders of the Health System. Analysis and presentation generally involve (I) using data to describe a process and (2) creation of meaningful and relevant information, including visual display, for a wide variety of audiences. Interdisciplinary improvement team facilitation involves working with clinical teams to identify and influence potential areas for institutional change, in the areas of quality management and patient safety. Additionally:
Under the direction of the Patient Safety Manager and the Chief Patient Safety Officer, manage and enhance the Patient Safety programs, including but not limited to SAE Review, Never Event Reporting, 100% Inpatient Mortality Review, Normalized Deviation, and Safety Star Awards.
Partner with Affiliate facility leadership to provide Patient Safety expertise for Marina Del Rey Hospital and the Affiliate ASC's as requested o Collaborate with Director of Affiliate Quality Relations to provide input on Patient Safety Structure, tools, educational materials/resources and templates for consistent use across the Health System o Provide education/onboarding of Patient Safety/Quality staff and leadership at MDRH and ASC's as requested. This includes education programs regarding the use of various patient safety tools, approaches and analyses. o As directed, provide consultation as a Patient Safety Expert for near misses, events or patterns of errors occurring in the Affiliates
Develop, manage and maintain all Patient Safety education activities, including but not limited to New Employee Orientation, Annual Healthstream Safety Trainings, New Manager/Leader Orientation, Annual Safety Fair Planning, Patient Safety activities, and Housestaff Orientation.
In collaboration with the OD Facilitator, design various Patient Safety education activities and programs as requested.
Partner with Performance Improvement Colleagues on leading Drift Proofing work
In collaboration with the Patient Safety Manager, assist in promotion of the Culture of Safety Survey and follow

Requires at least five (5) years of prior work experience in an academic acute health care setting, with prior work experience in quality improvement or risk management or other related clinical area, Master's Degree may substitute for up to 2 years of related work experience,
At least two (2) years supervision experience preferred.
Current clinical licensure or comparable required, Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) preferred
Skill and proficiency in applying the highly technical principles, concepts, and techniques which are central to the medical profession and continuous quality improvement
Demonstrated leadership ability to establish intradepartmental administrative systems and achieve orderly, accurate and timely work flow.
Demonstrated ability to compose letters, policy statements, procedure manuals and reports on own initiative; ability to organize complex statistical and narrative reports, charts and exhibits into a complete document suitable for publication and distribution.
Proficiency in spreadsheet programs and presentation applications (i.e. Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint).
Experience in word processing required, Ability to edit material and ensure correct punctuation, spelling and grammar. Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations. Experience demonstrating the ability to handle multiple tasks frequently with short timelines, to prioritize and organize work, and to complete assignments in a timely, accurate manner,

Comparable level of education, training and experience considered.
3-4 years of progressive responsibility in continuous quality improvement preferred.
Experience with system-wide as well as program-based Patient Safety team facilitation and leadership is required.
Extensive knowledge of health care regulatory, accreditation, and licensing requirements is necessary.
Knowledge of PC/Macintosh applications, particularly spreadsheet, online analytic processing tools, and statistical functions are required.
