Under the supervision of the Director of Production, the Theatre Technician will provide technical support for production related skills for the College of Performing Arts and newly opened Musco Center of the Arts. Monitor the condition of equipment and perform basic to somewhat complex maintenance; scenic and property construction, scenic painting, lighting focus and hanging, audio/visual system setup and load in and out productions. Communicate with appropriate staff to provide and obtain information and execute method of design. Utilize safety practices and procedures.
This is a temporary, part-time position working 20 hours for up to 8 weeks. Duration of assignment can be lengthen or shorten at the discretion of the university. Evening or weekend availability required depending on event schedule.
Required: Bachelor's degree in related field or an equivalent combination of work and experience. Must be able to paint and have basic carpentry skills. One to three years' experience in set constructions, sound engineering, or lighting design. Experience with tools and facilities for professional, educational, and theatrical productions. Knowledge of basic principles, methods and techniques in maintaining, installing, and repairing electrical and mechanical equipment used in stage production.
*Must be able to carry, lift up to 100 lbs.
