The role of the Planning Supervisor II position is to supervise a team of professionals engaged in capital and strategic planning, space management, project management and transition planning. The Planning Supervisor II provides a high level of leadership and mentoring to assigned direct reports: managing workload, providing training, evaluating performance and implementing corrective action as needed.REQUIRED--Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, planning, business administration, public policy or a related field preferred and experience in business process analysis, operations research, or finance/policy analysis; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.--Leadership experience in capital planning, space management, budgeting, organization, decision making and problem solving.--Demonstrated experience in creating a positive team environment with a strong customer service focus. Recognizing that Planning's customers are internal to UCDH but that they serve patient and student constituents who are the ultimate customer--Experience providing policy analysis involving complex issues and data sources, including analytical techniques, writing, metrics and data sources for assessing facility utilization and needs in an academic medical center environment.--Experience facilitating funding approvals within a complex institutional or government environment. --Experience working collaboratively with broad range of individuals in a complex fast paced environment. Ability to react with flexibility and patience, and maintain efficiency, effectiveness and accuracy under pressure created by a heavy workload with frequent interruptions and multiple requests.--Demonstrated history evaluating complex issues and identifying and implementing solutions.--Oral and written communication experience including writing clear and concise documents for high level administrative review. Experience using spreadsheets, databases, word processing and other computer programs to complete critical reports, documents, and presentations.--Experience successfully managing facility capital and non-capital projects of large scope and complexity, including direct responsibility for the leadership of project teams and the development and management of overall project budgets and schedules. PREFERRED--Demonstrated supervisory experience to effectively set performance standards and evaluate performance. Experience providing constructive criticism and feedback to encourage others. History includes assessing learning needs of staff and participating in their training and development to promote growth within their position and the University. Preferred.--Experience in space needs assessment, space program development, and facility master planning in a health care setting. General understanding of hospital, outpatient clinic and academic office operations. Knowledge of roles and functional responsibilities of all major hospital departments. Knowledge of hospital functions and general policies and procedures. Preferred.--Experience assembling and evaluating information and preparing reports regarding building space allocation standards and utilization. Ability to independently perform program evaluation studies and financial feasibility analyses. Ability to be an excellent steward of valuable University assets. Preferred.--Demonstrated experience working effectively under pressure and to meet deadlines of multiple simultaneous projects. Experience negotiating solutions that respect University policies and needs of all parties. Preferred.--Demonstrated knowledge of commercial landlord/tenant laws and responsibilities. Ability to interpret and apply terms of University lease contracts. Preferred.--Working knowledge of building codes and licensing requirements for hospitals, clinics and lab facilities.
