The Fresno Metropolitan Flood Control District is currently recruiting for an Engineer I-II. The position is a member of the District’s Rural Streams / Capital Projects section engineering team. Job duties will include preparation of plans, contract specifications and cost estimates for flood control facilities, administration and coordination of rural area drainage and flood control activities, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling for open channel flow and flood water routing, and other related flood control system engineering functions. Familiarity in open channel flow and the HEC series of computer programs is highly desirable.
The position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related degree with specialization in hydraulics and hydrology. Registration with the State of California as a Civil Engineer is desirable, but not required. The position also requires 1-year experience in civil engineering work with special familiarity with storm drainage and flood control systems design, operations and construction. A valid California Driver License is required.
The District may waive the specialization in hydraulics and hydrology for a candidate with the initiative to learn hydraulics, hydrology and other skills and the desire for a career in solving storm water management challenges.
