MCP is a division of Residential and Dining Enterprises (R&DE). It supports the educational mission of the University by providing housing services for 13,000 students and their families and 18,000 summer visitors living in 350 facilities on the Stanford campus totaling approximately 5 million square feet. The Maintenance and Building Security group provides routine and emergency reactive maintenance as well as preventive and corrective maintenance and contracted services management to all Housing facilities, Dining Halls, and other R&DE-managed facilities.
Provide high-level technical guidance and support for all aspects of RD&E/Maintenance Operations and projects; function as designated back-up to the Manager in his absence; represents the Manager on various MCP, Student Housing, R&DE, and University committees, task forces, selection committees as required; strengthen the technical expertise of the shops through providing a high level of technical guidance, direction to shop staff, the department, and for renovation/construction projects.
Perform onsite work quality inspections of completed work, by staff and contactor performed projects, to ensure all work is performed within applicable standards and specifications. Function as the owner of all Maintenance. Function as owner/developer/coordinator for all Maintenance staff recommended candidate projects - SHARP/HARP/DARP, asset renewal, other funding sources. Represents all of Maintenance Ops at Project meetings, tracking assignments from meetings, providing required follow-up actions. Reviews new construction, renovation project plans for operational compliance and conformance to construction standards
Function as the primary investigator for structural problems/issues in all buildings. Perform field condition assessments of existing building access and security, Carpentry and MEP systems. Review project submittals and provide technical comments for all access-related scope of work to assure that projects utilize the Housing door hardware specifications and comply with standards.
Provide technical direction, instruction, guidance, troubleshooting assistance to all of the Maintenance Operations Journey-level staff.
Performs on-site work quality inspections of completed work - by staff and contractor-performed projects to ensure all work is performed within applicable standards and specifications
Functions as Project Manager for contract work performed under Maintenance Operations management
Provides high-level technical guidance for R&DE Maintenance Operations, planning, standards
Meet customers on-site to review problem situations and recommend solutions/provide implementation costs
Develops, reviews, updates R&DE technical specifications/standards for access control and building security, Carpentry and MEP systems for renovation and new construction projects
Oversee the daily operation and management of assigned facilities and programs, including scheduling and assigning work to staff and coordinating with staff, subcontractors, and/or vendors; coaching lower level managerial staff; overseeing staffing and performance evaluation of assigned staff; contributing to department or division staffing needs forecast.
Clarify and resolve problems spanning multiple areas or technical fields and/or oversee or develop programs within assigned facilities.
Manage and/or develop budget for area of responsibility, including staffing, maintenance, contracts, etc.
Manage ongoing service contracts as applicable.
Participate in department/unit strategic management, including making recommendations involving short-term planning for facility-type projects and for longer-range programs/projects; providing input into long-range financial, budgeting, and programmatic planning and development; providing input into the development of policies and procedures; interpret and manage policies and procedures for assigned area.
Oversee and/or monitor project activities; ensure integration with larger unit goals; coordinate with staff, subcontractors, and/or vendors.

Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or other appropriate technical area, or combination of technical education, training, and experience. Two or more years of experience managing facilities operations and maintenance staff in an environment with a variety of building types (administrative offices, classrooms, laboratories, residential & dining facilities, auditoriums, etc.).
Possesses knowledge of fundamentals of building access control systems/Locksmithing, Carpentry and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing).
Demonstrated experience and proficiency in using Lenel OnGuard, DoorKing, and KeyTrak access management systems
Knowledge of or work experience with best practices in access control in a large institutional/high customer service environment with preference for specific student housing experience
Experience with maintenance work order systems with a preference for Tririga experience
Prior experience working as a Lead, Supervisor, or Manager in a Skilled Trades Bargaining Unit environment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of environmental and safety rules, regulations, and policies. Ability to conduct job site inspections to ensure compliance.
Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with others.
Demonstrated experience managing service contracts.
Demonstrated experience developing and managing budgets.
Demonstrated experience planning, developing, and implementing programs.
Ability to interpret planning specifications, documents, working drawings, and related reports.
Certifications and Licenses:
Frequently sitting, perform desk-based computer tasks, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
Occasionally stand/walk, twist/bend/stoop/squat, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, use a telephone, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 11-20 pounds.
Rarely kneel/crawl, climb (ladders, scaffolds, or other), reach/work above shoulders, grasp forcefully, writing by hand, sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh >40 pounds.
