Under limited supervision, plans, organizes, administers, and directs the operations and maintenance of the District's parks facilities and functions and reverse frontage landscaping, which include potable and non-potable water irrigation systems, construction activities, and inspections.
This position is responsible for the overall supervision of parks maintenance crews; and contracted maintenance crew activities. Meets with contractors, user groups, other agencies and the public as needed to complete the goals and objectives of the department. Plans, organizes and oversees related activities while serving as an administrative and technical resource to assigned staff. Duties and responsibilities are very broad in scope and are carried out with considerable independence based on established goals, objectives and requirements.
Graduation from high school or equivalent. Possession of an Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university in landscape architecture, environmental services, horticulture, arboriculture or a closely related field is highly desirable.
Five years of increasingly responsible experience in parks systems operation, maintenance and repair, including a minimum of two years of supervisory responsibility. Project Management experience is highly desirable.
Possession of a Class C California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record; a Class A driver's license is highly desirable.
Possession of California Applicators License.
Possession of a General Contractor License is highly desirable.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, certification from District provided CPR/First Aid Training.
