The Cal Poly Orfalea College of Business (OCOB) and the College of Architecture and Environmental Design (CAED) are seeking an individual who has professional experience in real property finance and development, and who can teach practice-based and theoretical courses to an interdisciplinary audience of students beginning September 7, 2017 and ending June 16, 2018 with a possibility for an extension. These courses will cover the fundamentals of finance, planning, design, and construction, and their cross-impacts on community development.
The individual should have knowledge of development policies and practices that promote diverse, sustainable and resilient communities. Additionally, the individual should have knowledge of affordable housing (policy, design, and finance) or working in disadvantaged communities.
The colleges seek a professional practitioner (senior or mid-career) to serve as a full-time lecturer for a joint appointment (50-50), with the hiring department to be determined at time of appointment, depending on the background and qualifications of the successful candidate.
Duties may include:
Providing leadership for collaborative, interdisciplinary endeavors related to community and real property development.
Participating in interdisciplinary competitions such as the Bank of America Low Income Housing Challenge and the ULI Hines Urban Design Competition.
Initiating Cal Poly based real property development activities such as conferences or competitions salient to California that can bring the campus national visibility.
Teaching courses on development of sustainable infrastructure, and/or urban and housing design.

Master's degree in business, city planning, construction management, or related fields; Substantial related senior management-level experience in industry or government; and teaching ability.
