Under general supervision, perform park, beach, open space, and trails planning and landscape architectural work; to prepare plans and designs; manage projects, including open space management contracts, beach preservation activities, and other related work as required.
Develop designs, specifications, cost estimates for landscaping, park improvements, open space, beach and trail projects.
Prepare written reports, agenda items, maps, specifications, drawings and necessary documents related to park/trail development and landscape architectural capital projects.
Review park, beach, open space, and trail plans for conformance to city policies and program desires.
Schedule design and construction work related to park, beach, open space and trail projects; administer contracts and coordinate project development team.
Oversee public works contracts related to park, beach, open space or trail improvements and construction. Coordinate and monitor performance of outside consultants and contractors.
Coordinate environmental permits, conditional use permits and other planning documents for the above projects.
Make presentations to the Beach Preservation Committee, Parks & Recreation Commission, Planning Commission, City Council, and other boards.
Act as staff liaison to the Beach Preservation Committee.
Coordinate park, beach, open space and trail development activities with other city divisions and departments, outside adjacent agencies, and various groups related to the above projects.
Organize public meetings and workshops with various neighborhood communities in development of park, beach, open space and trail projects.
Interact with and organize community volunteers related to citywide trail volunteer program, Adopt-a-Trail Program, and park projects.
Write grant proposals and research opportunities for funding park, beach, open space and trail projects.
Perform other related duties as necessary.

Principles of recreational planning.

Computer programs related to landscape design and park development, (e.g., AUTOCAD, GIS and Microsoft Project).
Preparing and administering contracts, i.e. professional services, public works, and maintenance.
Prepare sketches, plans, specifications and cost estimates of landscape architectural, park, beach, open space and trail projects using industry standards.
Research, collect, analyze and interpret data pertaining to landscape architecture, including park, beach, open space, and trail development and maintenance.
Utilize computer programs standard to the practice of landscape architecture to produce necessary work, such as mapping, AutoCAD, PowerPoint, GIS and Microsoft Project.
Make public presentations to applicable committees, commissions, council, other bodies and the general public.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Independently organize work, set priorities, and meet critical deadlines.
Perform work with minimal supervision.
