Job Summary: Seeking a highly motivated individual to join a biotechnology centered lab in the Division of Biology and BioEngineering. The successful candidate will work with a multidisciplinary research team on one or more projects to study cell surface protein interactions.
Maintenance and transfection of mammalian cell lines for recombinant protein expression, both traditional and automated high throughput.
Knowledge of ELISAs, SPR and other assays, both traditional and automated high throughput.
Molecular biology tasks include cloning (PCR, gel electrophoresis, sequencing and validating constructs, etc..) and plasmid preparation.
Protein purification (affinity and size exclusion chromatography)
General lab duties including buffer and reagent prep and supply management.
Other duties as assigned.
BA or BS in Biology or related field
At least one year of experience in a biology research laboratory.
Knowledge of buffer prep and calculations
Demonstrated ability to plan and carry out experiments and to work independently.
DNA cloning experience.
Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
Ability to work in a team environment
Experience with liquid handling instruments
Strong organizational skills in experimental data processing and representation (Excel and programming skills).
Entry level mechanical and engineering sills or strong motivation to acquire these skills.
A background in cell biology, molecular biology, and protein sciences.
Experience in mammalian tissue culture.
Protein purification experience.
