About the Department
The Public Works Department supports the City’s infrastructure as well as a wide range of City and regional facilities including branch libraries, community centers, police departments, and City Hall. Services include management of planning, design, construction, and maintenance. Over the last 15 years, the department has participated in the delivery of over $500,000,000 in projects ranging from the remodel of libraries to the expansion of the convention center.
About the Opportunity
The City of San José is seeking an Associate Engineer – Electrical who will be responsible for directing and supervising the delivery of multiple commercial building grade capital projects within the Public Works department. The candidate should have experience designing and delivering large and small projects for municipality public agency, a consulting firm, or a contractor. The successful candidate will be experienced in identifying problems, and proposing solutions to department leadership. The successful candidate will participate in the selection of consultants and contractors and provide code and quality review for his/her projects. A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in electrical engineering or a related field or possession of an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certificate.
Three (3) years of professional engineering experience.
A master’s degree from an accredited college or university in the required professional engineering discipline may be substituted for one year of professional engineering experience.
A California Professional Engineer’s License is desirable.
Possession of a valid driver’s license in the State of California may be required.
