ABOUT MAINTENANCE OPERATIONS & CAPITAL PROJECTS (MCP)
This division supports all R&DE operations and provides strong stewardship of its facilities by delivering daily and preventive maintenance, executing 50-year asset renewal model, managing design and construction of capital and other essential projects, infusing sustainability, safeguarding occupational health and safety, monitoring life-safety systems and after-hours security, overseeing furnishings/fixtures and parts inventory, administering move services and the fleet, managing utilities and waste, ensuring emergency preparedness and business continuity, and providing space and property administration.
Provide management and coordination of administrative and operations-related functions for the unit. Manage staff to achieve goals and objectives. Serve as primary contact and technical expert for CAD and/or GIS.
Manage staff in the day-to-day operations for area(s) of responsibility. Responsible for hiring and retaining staff, career coaching, personal development for direct reports and accountable for the performance of employees. Ensure work completion within schedule and budget constraints.
Assist in the preparation of CAD engineering plans and specifications and in the preparation of graphics, databases, website and comprehensive plans.
Identify and implement procedural and/or technical advancements in the field.
Develop and coordinate implementation of departmental standards and procedures.
Plan, conduct and direct the analysis of complex business problems to be solved using automated systems such as CAD, GIS and database tools.
Serve as primary contact and technical expert in CAD, Geographic Info Systems (GIS) and/or database systems. Provide technical support, CAD and related software training and hardware recommendations.
Participate in the design, configuration and implementation of new database systems and tools.
Liaison with all levels of staff, faculty, contractors, vendors and architects.
Support project managers and key contributors with real-time pen-to-paper sketching of key concepts during early project development conversations.
Manage drafting and CAD team members in support of active projects and project closeout documentation.

Education & Experience:
Bachelors degree and four years of relevant work experience and three years of relevant management experience, or combination of education and relevant experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Able to sketch concepts pen-to-paper in real-time during project development discussions, highly desirable
Demonstrated supervisory skills including conflict resolution.
Demonstrated experience with the design and implementation of interfaces for database driven applications, CAD and/or GIS software.
Must have experience creating DWF files (drawing for the web) and writing extensions for web integrated applications.
Able to write custom applications, understanding TCP/IP protocols, web server technology and SQL.
Demonstrated experience reading and interpreting civil engineering and architectural drawings.
Excellent planning and organizational skills.
Ability to multi-task and manage deadlines.
Subject matter expertise for area(s) of responsibilities.
Able to keep abreast of general industry knowledge and trends.
Excellent communication skills. Must act with diplomacy and tact.
Certifications and Licenses:
Valid California non-commercial Class drivers license.
Frequently perform desk-based computer tasks, stand/walk, sit, grasp lightly/fine manipulation.
Occasionally twist/bend/stoop/squat, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, use a telephone, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 20 pounds.
Rarely kneel/crawl, climb (ladders, scaffolds, or other), grasp forcefully; reach/work above shoulders, sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh 21-40 pounds.
Ability to obtain and maintain a California Non-commercial Class Driver's license.
