Purpose: The Department of Theatre and Dance at Santa Clara University, a Jesuit, Catholic University in Silicon Valley, seeks candidates to teach THTR 29/129 - Rehearsal and Performance, serving as Costume Shop Assistant to help Costume Shop Manager both teach student work crew costume construction skills and create costumes for two theatrical productions in Winter quarter 2017. Position is equivalent to .15 course load.
Salary: $975 for work to be coordinated by Costume Shop Manager. Not benefits eligible.
Basic Qualifications: BS or BA degree with degree in Theatre preferred, or commensurate professional experience.Extensive costume construction experience required. Both professional and educational costume shop experience, with an understanding and appreciation for values in doing educational theatre desired. Ability to perform and teach costume construction skills. Candidates should have appropriate availability to be in residence in the shop according to a schedule coordinated with the the faculty Costume Shop manager.Ability to carry out the professional duties of position. Candidates should have a collaborative work style, strong organizational and communication skills and a commitment to teaching theatre through production, within a liberal arts context.
Responsibilities: Duties include but are not limited to the following:1. Work in costume shop according to schedule coordinated with Costume Shop manager. 2. Work with the Costume Shop Manager to assist in teaching costume construction skills to student work crew. 3. Perform costume construction tasks as coordinated by the Costume Shop Manager. 4. Fulfill other instructional or academic duties as appropriate as may be requested by the Chair of the Department.Course Description THTR 29/129 Rehearsal and Performance:Spring Quarter: 1) Rehearsal and Performance serving as Costume Shop Assistant to help Costume Shop Manager both teach student work crew costume construction skills and create costumes for two theatrical productions in Spring quarter 2017: I Love You, Youre Perfect, Now Change and Measure for Measure.
