FULL TIME; CAREER Starting Salary Range: $90,000-$120,000/annually. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Under the general direction of Campus Architect, the Capital and Major Maintenance Project Manager is a member of the leadership staff who supervises and directs a project management group responsible for managing the design and construction of capital improvements to University systems and buildings. This includes renovations, expansions, new facilities and infrastructure as well as landscape projects; perform collection, development, and analysis of technical data to determine project requirements and preparation of information regarding specifications, materials, equipment, estimated costs, and completion times. Individual also manages own project portfolio.
Facilities Project Manager with advanced skills who is responsible for all aspects of the design and construction process for significant major and minor building projects, or highly specialized and critical components of these projects. Projects are often characterized by their complexity. Exercises independent judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. May oversee, manage, supervise, or provide guidance to other Facilities Project Managers and/or Analysts. Hires, trains, disciplines and evaluates the performance of those directly supervised, if applicable.
Physical Planning and Construction (PP&C) supports the UC Santa Cruz academic vision by managing and overseeing all physical planning, design, and construction. Under the general direction of the Campus Architect/Building Official, PP&C ensures that projects contribute to and support campus life by creating visually pleasing, functional, and sustainable facilities that are sensitive and responsive to the surrounding natural landscape. We collaborate with other campus departments to facilitate and realize their programmatic or operational needs when building or altering facilities.
Advanced knowledge of building and construction, design, construction contract administration and California Building Codes, including advanced understanding of industry practices, or deep expertise in a highly specialized and critical discipline.
Advanced project management skills, including skill to manage all phases of design and construction of complex projects including programming, budgeting, design, contract administration/documents and inspection.
3-5 years' experience leading project management team in construction field, managing oversight of multiple projects from $35,000 - $4 Million.
Advanced analytical, organizational and problem recognition / avoidance / resolution skills.
Advanced written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including highly effective negotiation skills and highly developed political acumen.
