We are seeking a Scientist II to join the Enzyme Expression team.As a member of this group, you will work under the direction of a senior scientist to design, execute and analyze experiments related to gene cloning and expression.

Formula for Success: You Will
Clone and screen expression constructs to identify those that maximize the yield of active enzyme.
Troubleshoot expression of enzymes in multiple hosts to overcome obstacles and identify bottlenecks.
Analyze, interpret and summarize moderately complex analytical data to facilitate communication or results.
Achieve successful production of deliverables with efficiency and adherence to time constraints while interacting with and supporting a multidisciplinary team.
Manage work in a fast paced research environment, both independently and in a group setting.
Be organized and have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Bring scientific approach, being flexible, creative and detailed, to multiple tasks, achieving targets and integrating new ideas within existing processes.
Model and instill basic process safety knowledge received by completing required training of key safety critical areas of relevant processes and respective hazardous materials (hazard categories and related hazard potentials).
Identify and assess risks in everyday operation and support and participate in process safety programs.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You
Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Molecular Biology or related field and a minimum of 2 years of experience in an industrial lab setting required OR a Master's Degree in Biology, Molecular Biology or related field.
Laboratory experience strongly preferred.
Previous experience in aseptic technique and manipulation of microorganisms required
Technical proficiency and experience with molecular manipulation techniques, including molecular cloning methods, PCR, DNA purification and transformation required
Experience with protein analytical techniques, such as protein gel electrophoresis, protein quantification, purification and Western blots.
Experience with protein expression and production in bacterial yeast, or fungal systems a plus.
