We are seeking a full-time AP Calculus and Pre-calculus teacher starting in August 2017. Math instruction at Archer emphasizes making sense of problems and persevering in solving them. We teach students to construct viable arguments in pure and applied mathematics and critique the reasoning of others. Students practice modeling with mathematics, including formulating and designing original experiments. Our instruction exhibits a balance between application, conceptual understanding, and symbolic fluency.
The ideal candidate has a degree in mathematics, 3-5 years of secondary school teaching experience, a strong educational background, exemplary teaching skills, a desire to grow professionally, and a passion to teach and learn from young people. In addition, the strongest candidates will have experience teaching the AP Calculus curriculum. A desire to collaborate with colleagues, the flexibility to teach at multiple grade levels, and facility using technology to augment instruction is preferred.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, teaching five courses, serving as an advisor, and participating in extra-curricular school activities. Beyond competitive pay and benefits, faculty enjoy working in a collegial, growth-oriented, and joyful community.
