VISITING ASSISTANT PROFESSOR DEPARTMENT OF BIOLOGY AND ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE
Whittier College invites applications for a full time position at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor. This position is a one year joint appointment in the Department of Biology and the Environmental Science program with the possibility of renewal. Teaching responsibilities include introductory courses in environmental science and organismal and population biology as well as upper division courses in ecology or environmental biology that are cross listed between Environmental Science and Biology, and the teaching load is 24 units per year. Most courses include a significant laboratory or field component emphasizing guided inquiry and modeling undergraduate research. The Science Learning Center resources include instrumentation to measure light, plant environmental response, soil and plant carbon and nitrogen, and soil carbon flux as well as a newly constructed greenhouse.
