About the Candidate: A successful candidate will have experience and qualifications in the following areas:
Daily supervision of a team of creative graphics artists, writers and social media experts as well as administrative staff
Managing media inquiries and interview requests. Creating content for press releases and presentations
Directing social media and community outreach experts to engage audiences across traditional and new media
Ability to learn and understand technical engineering and construction projects and synthesize information into easy-to-understand outreach materials for the community
Producing community outreach materials including website content, customer newsletters and communications, briefing papers and PowerPoint presentations
Managing and implementing community events including marketing materials, event contracts and service agreements
Website content management systems, a beginner knowledge of HTML and a fearless aptitude to learn website management skills on the fly
Basic knowledge of photography as well as graphic editing programs such as Adobe Creative Suite
An understanding of the budgeting process and managing to a project budget
The ability to understand basic mathematical equations behind critical IRWD components such as the customer billing rate structure
Maintaining a keen understanding of industry trends and making appropriate recommendations regarding communication strategy
The ability to scan the horizon and identify new communication trends and opportunities.
Making presentations and speaking in front of large groups.
A combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in public relations, journalism, communications, or related field and five years of experience in a public relations position with demonstrated ability to manage people and projects is required. Three years of supervisory experience highly desirable.
Experience as media spokesperson or Public Information Officer (PIO) is required. Water industry experience desirable.
