The Organizational Consultant, under general direction from the Sr Director, is primarily responsible for leading and managing external client relationships for the UC San Diego Customer and Staff Engagement Surveys. This includes business development and customer engagement, and simultaneously managing multiple client projects for the entire life cycle of a survey. This position will also perform outreach and communication to all areas of UC San Diego campus leadership and external entities to manage survey deployment, facilitate initiatives to ensure accountability of actions taken, and communicate the results from varied sources and avenues.
The position will be the primary point of contact for all external entities that are participating in the UC San Diego survey/assessments and benchmark program and will provide management and oversight of new and existing processes and initiatives to grow the benchmarking program and the business model for the UC San Diego assessments and analytics program. The primary responsibilities of the Organizational Consultant will be twofold, tactical project management and strategic program development and analysis. More specifically, responsibilities include but are not be limited to:
Business Analysis and Consulting
Perform business development for potential new clients, negotiate service agreements, and develop and draft business cases.
Lead and implement process improvements per client and customer feedback
Be lead point of contact for multiple external clients in their survey development and deployment process
Develop comprehensive recommendations, solutions, and visually impactful reports for executive level clients
Present materials of complex statistical nature to executive leadership on trends, patterns, and significance, and provide recommendations
Project administration, planning, and follow-up including management of specific project plans
Develop and maintain spreadsheets, project plan, timelines, Gantt charts, contingency plans, and assignments
Budget and financial preparation
This position is highly customer-facing, deadline-driven, fast-paced, and involves shifting priorities. The incumbent will be expected to be able to manage multiple projects and fully analyze various problems, gather data and information, evaluate alternative solutions, and make final recommendations where necessary. Deliverables must be met with high attention detail while maintaining the highest level of customer service. The role provides the analytical support, the project management, and the change management skills that will be the basis for major changes in organizational policies, procedures, processes and practices within UC San Diego, and for external universities participating in the UC San Diego survey benchmarking program.
The Organizational Consultant will collaborate with the Sr Director and the Operational Strategic Initiatives leadership team to facilitate certain initiatives when assigned, including managing the team assignments, project plans, analytical studies, recommendations, and reports.
Employee must be available to work evenings and weekends.
Employee must be available to travel as required.
Advanced knowledge of the organizational development and effectiveness field, including theories, models to assess, and design and implement customized, strategic organization interventions. Demonstrates ability to execute, and finalize projects according to deadlines and within budget, mitigate risks to project success, define project objectives, and oversee quality control through each project's life cycle.
Demonstrates strong analytical, problem-solving, project planning and implementation skills. Possesses experience leading projects that engage stakeholders, executives, faculty, business officers, donors, and external businesses. Experience in constructing scope of work, project plans, budgets, contract documents, and define reasonable expectations of all parties, internal and external. Highly skilled in independently understanding, analyzing, interpreting complex data, written material, and computer generated information while maintaining the overall process viewpoint, and effectively communicate the results to a variety of personnel at various levels.
