Crystal Springs Uplands School, a coeducational independent day School in Hillsborough, California serving Middle and Upper School students on two campuses, is seeking a motivated, experienced and skilled individual to supervise our engineering/makerspace shop, serve as mentor to our Upper School robotics' team, and assist with the supervision of two STEM-like Physics, Engineering, and Technology sections.
We have a successful robotics team of approximately 15 - 20 students who have participated in First Robotics Competition (FRC) for the past 4 years. This position requires a person who can supervise and mentor our students in the design and construction of robots that will compete in future FRC competitions. The hours change from week to week, but most weeks the hours at from 10 AM to 6 PM Monday - Friday and a 4 hour session on Saturday, hours on Saturday to be mutually determined.
An engineering background with 1-2 years of hands-on construction experience using wood and especially metals is required.
Expertise using power hand tools, table saws, band saws, a mill, drill press, sanders, grinders, CADing etc. and experience working with young people and willingness to teach them "best practices" in the use of all of the above.
Familiarity with the FRC platform a big plus!
Organizational skills are required, and maintaining a clear and clean working shop is a must.
