ABOUT THE CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY MARITIME ACADEMY: Established in 1929, California State University Maritime Academy, a campus of the California State University, is the only degree-granting maritime academy on the West Coast. Located on a scenic waterfront site in Vallejo, the campus serves a student population of approximately 1100 undergraduates and 50 graduate students. The campus currently offers undergraduate degrees in Mechanical Engineering, Facilities Engineering Technology, Marine Engineering Technology, Marine Transportation, Global and Maritime Studies, and Business Administration. A master's degree in Transportation and Engineering Management is offered as well as a number of extended learning programs and courses. POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general direction of the President, the Campus Energy & Sustainability Manager (CESM) provides leadership, teamwork, direction, and stewardship for the entire campus in the area of sustainability and energy; which includes coordination of operations, installations, and improvements of the campus utility infrastructure and environmental systems, and will be proactive in identifying and securing funds made available through external agencies, grants, and other relevant industry partners. The CESM will research, coordinate, identify and implement environmental stewardship best practices and programs to support student learning and faculty sustainability research and teaching, and will develop operational implementation guidelines and manage the process for sustainability practices and the communication of results, guiding the campus toward establishing California State University Maritime Academy as a leader in sustainability and energy innovation within the CSU system and at the state, regional, and national levels. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Energy Management, sustainability related disciplines, Business Administration, Public Administration or related field(s). Experience: Minimum of two years' experience in Sustainability/Environmental related programs, or progressively responsible experience in managing complex or technical Environmental programs. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: LICENSES/CERTIFICATES: PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with education and experience.
