The position of Interim Shop Foreman, is responsible for assisting the Interim Technical Director in the planning, supervision, and implementation of all of the technical production elements for the APU theater Department. Working primarily in the construction of scenic properties, this position will aid in the supervision of student workers on assigned projects under the direct supervision of the Technical Director.
Bachelor of Arts or equivalent experience.
1 year experience in technical theater with an emphasis in theatrical construction.
Primary Duties/Essential Functions
Responsible for overseeing the scene shop, lighting lab and theater spaces under the direction of the technical director and technical theater faculty.
Creation of weekly tasks/duties list for production build in concert with tech/design faculty.
Student crew mentorship.
Inventory of materials/stock needs.
Enforcement of all facility rules and safety procedures.
Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks.
Excellent technical abilities in planning, and construction.
Good with power tools.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Responsible for daily electronic timekeeping as it applies to the scope of this position.
Regular, punctual attendance as required by the supervisor based on department needs.
Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Ability to work under pressure, exuding a mature demeanor while multi-tasking in a deadline oriented environment with accuracy and consistency.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Ability to work collaboratively with a team, as well as an independent contributor.
Ability to exercise good judgment and discretionary skills in determining when to act independently and when to consult management prior to taking action.
Self-starter with a positive attitude.

Ability to design lights or sound for production a plus, but not necessary.
Physical work and endurance, including frequent lifting (occasional lifting up to 50-75 pounds)
Ability to reach, bend, twist, grasp, and reach.
Ability to construct sets and climb ladders.
Ability to work at heights and in challenging environments.
Reading blue prints
Loud continuous high noise volume, exposed to hot and cold temperature during busy times.
Proficient in Google Apps., Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel.
Grade 5: $16.11 - $20.94/hour
