The Plant Accounting Manager works under minimal supervision from the Manager of General Accounting and exhibits a high degree of independence and autonomy in managing the day-to-day operations of Plant Accounting operations. This position serves as the subject matter expert for campus and medical center management for Property, Plant, and Equipment accounting; accounting for debt; and accounting for third parties (the East Campus housing entities, for example). On behalf of the UCI Accounting Office, this position interacts regularly with the UC Office of the President to resolve accounting issues related to new funding sources and debt refinancing transactions associated with multi-million dollar capital projects for which complex journal entries are prepared in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and UC's accounting manual. The Plan Accounting Manager plays a key role with the California State Controller's office in all financial reporting for capital expenditures in compliance with state regulations of capital outlay funds for construction appropriation that have been allocated to UCI under State Budget Acts. The Plant Accounting Manager works with other UCI departments to ensure that proactive measures in the administration of construction contracts and professional service agreements are utilized, and that legal documents of stop notices concerning all Irvine campus and medical center capital projects as well as timely settlements of claims from general contractors and subcontractors are appropriately administered. This position manages the mid-year and fiscal end-year closing activities for Plant Funds, including preparation of complex reported requested by independent auditors and appendices by UCOP. The Plant Accounting Manager analyzes financial data from all sources, produces statements and reports as appropriate, and compare budget planning against actual performance. Performance at this high level in Plant Accounting requires a solid understanding of Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) pronouncements and a strong working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Salary: Range $69,000.00 - $85,000.00 Total Hours: 8-5, M-F Career Position. Must be able to work on some evening and weekends to meet deadlines.
