The Biomechanics and Mechano-biology research group directed by Dr. Sachin Goyal, is looking for a self-motivated and qualified junior specialist in applied mechanics to work on a project on the simulations of elastic rod deformations. The project is motivated by research applications involving biological filaments (for more information refer to the research page: http://me.ucmerced.edu/research-areas/biomechanics-and-mechano-biology)
The candidate is required to understand the research work beforehand and discuss specific project ideas with Dr. Goyal’s research group. MATLAB and computational skills are necessary for the project. The junior specialist is expected to stay abreast of recent publications in the field, carry out research independently, implement and develop research ideas and write research articles.
Qualifications: Applicants must have obtained a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. Highly self-motivated individuals who have demonstrated the ability to conduct scientific research successfully and work independently with guidance from the faculty member or senior research team members are desirable.

Salary is based on the University of California Academic Salary Scales. This is a short-term full-time appointment.
