Salary Range: Salary will be commensurate with background and experience of the individual selected. The Facilities Management and Development (FMD) organization is a unit within the Administration and Finance division and is responsible for the management and development of facilities on the university campus. The Director of Customer and Business Services (CBS) works within the Customer and Business Services area of the FMD which aims to achieve customer satisfaction and employee excellence by providing administrative, financing, and support services for the University and FMD community through responsiveness, collaboration, communication, professionalism, high quality service and integrity. The purpose of CBS department is to act as the customer interface of FMD and is responsible for employee services, financial services, and services a localized help desk/call center for campus-wide requests for all facilities-related services.
Under general direction of the Associate Vice President for Facilities Management and Development, the Director of Customer Business Services has direct responsibility for the management, administration, budget, communications, personnel coordination, and support services within FMD. The incumbent is responsible for the FMD overall operating budget in excess of $33 million dollars as well as the budget support for FMD's Major Capital projects.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree from a four year accredited college or university AND five (5) years to 7 years progressively responsible experience in supervising/managing a broad range of business functions. A graduate degree in a related field may be substituted for two years of the required experience.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities 1. Thorough knowledge of and experience with methods, procedures and practices found within facilities management and development services, including work order processing, human resources, billing, training, customer service/help center, and project management. 2. Thorough knowledge of, principles and best practices associated with public and business administration, fiscal management and planning ,record keeping and GAAP principles in a complex environment. 3. Knowledge of or ability to quickly learn the practices and procedures of Lost and Found functions. 4. Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to apply modern management and administrative techniques to coordinate and manage a diverse staff including the ability to enhance performance through training, mentoring and professional development, coaching and evaluation. 5. Demonstrated ability to use high ethical standards of conduct, including sensitivity and confidentiality, in working with various internal and external constituents. 6. Demonstrated ability to independently and effectively manage highly complex projects and business solutions with broad scope and impact. 7. Excellent networking and interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively consult with and influence administrators, faculty, staff, student and the community. 8. Strong ability to develop and analyze spreadsheets and reports to manage all aspects of business including expenditure trends and needs, work order response times, training compliance, and status of projects. 9. Ability to represent the University and its interests in a professional and courteous manner. 10. Knowledge of and experience in developing and implementing short and long-term strategic plans related to program management. 11. Knowledge of or ability to quickly learn facilities management software and energy management systems. 12. Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to set own priorities to coordinate multiple assignments with fluctuating and time-sensitive deadlines. 13. Demonstrated ability to use a variety of computer applications including word-processing, spreadsheets, databases, online systems, electronic work tracking, and internet as well as online calendaring and email. 14. Knowledge of or ability to quickly learn University infrastructure, policies and procedures. 15. Excellent communication skills with an ability to effectively communicate information in a clear and understandable manner, both verbally and in writing and a thorough mastery of English grammar, spelling and punctuation with a demonstrated ability to proofread and edit. 16. Demonstrated ability to use tact, diplomacy and professionalism to effectively handle a broad range of high level and sensitive interpersonal situations with diverse personalities, and to respond appropriately to conflicts and problems. 17. Ability to initiate, establish, and foster communication and teamwork by maintaining a positive, cooperative, productive work atmosphere in and outside the University with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within a diverse population and with those from various cultural backgrounds.
1. Demonstrated skills in an institutional/educational environment utilizing a customer-oriented and service-centered attitude. 2. Experience in maintenance or construction-related administration. 3. Master's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Higher Education Administration, or a related field. 4. Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Must be willing to travel and attend training programs off-site for occasional professional development.
Must be able to work overtime, occasional holidays, and adjust working hours to meet special jobs. May be called back periodically to perform work as needed on an emergency basis.
The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 Revised July 21, 2017 as a condition of employment.
Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background/fingerprint check.
This position is a 'designated position' in the California State University's Conflict of Interest Code. The successful candidate accepting this position is required to file Conflict of Interest forms subject to the regulations of the Fair Political Practices Commission.
Full-time MPP employees are required to disclose outside employment at time of hire or within 30 days of taking additional outside employment subsequent to time of hire.
This position classification has been defined as 'Exempt' and is not subject to the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
