Position Summary: The Design and Construction Analyst supports various services and programs within the Capital Assets Strategies and Finance department (CAS&F). Programs include, but aren't limited to, the Capital Programs Institute (CPI), Construction Review Board (CRB), Capital Projects, and the University's Facilities Manual that addresses many UC policies in regards to design, construction, capital planning, and facilities operations. CPI is an collaborative training and professional development program, and open forum format serving the many systemwide UC professionals responsible for planning, executing, and maintaining the University's built environment. CPI events consist of workshops, mini-conferences, meetings, and professional training events which support design, construction, project management and planning staff at UC Campuses. The incumbent facilitates the University's various campus capital programs with best practices, guidelines, policy, and laws, and acts as the an essential team member of CPI.
The Design and Construction Analyst performs under the direction of the Director of Construction Services and must be creative, intuitive, organized, and demonstrate strong customer service. Under the general direction, the position also supports the Construction Review Board hearings and assemblies. The incumbent may also support the implementation of the University's planning and design policies and procedures.
In addition to taking an active role in improving the services the department provides, responsibilities include document control and development, updating program budgets, and supporting special initiatives associated with University design and construction laws, policies, and guidelines, including maintaining the Facilities Manual, and equivalent tasks as assigned.

Duty 1: Responsible for complex network issue determination and resolution. Troubleshoots highly complex issues in network systems software and distribution and access electronics.
Works directly with vendor/manufacturer technical support to isolate and resolve highly complex hardware and software issues. Function:Network Management Percent: 25
Duty 2: Coordinates with building services and data center staff to provision LAN, WLAN and other network services for new buildings, remodels, and demolition. Function:Network Coordination Services Percent: 25
Duty 3: Takes a lead role in the management of all phases of multiple, large-scope, complex network projects: planning, design, procurement, implementation and documentation.
Provides expert advice to other units on new or retrofit building projects and communications infrastructure.
May oversee contractors/installers. Mentors less experienced team members. Function:Complex Network Design Percent: 20
Duty 4: Evaluates broad and complex user and network requirements and design, specifies and installs core distribution and access electronics.
Conducts project planning, cost analysis and vendor comparisons.
Performs traffic study analysis to determine best configuration of network components. Function:Evaluates Network Requirements Percent: 10
Duty 5: Initiates or recommends complex and highly complex communications and network system changes.
Develops specifications for and takes lead role in testing and evaluation of new or enhanced network services.
Participates in the development and directs configuration of network diagnostic tools and software. Function:Network Test & Evaluation Percent: 10

Job Requirements Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Required
Advanced knowledge of professional communications and network systems in the completion of diverse assignments.
Advanced knowledge of the practices and techniques of the voice and data field and the ability to determine a course of action based on guidelines.
Understands implications of work on other areas. Has highly developed problem solving skills to independently resolve issues using defined parameters and technical expertise.
Clearly understands the communications and network needs of the organization and has skills needed to address those needs.
Ability to interpret cabling plans and oversee installers to ensure standards are meet. Familiar with cabling and termination specification, maintenance and problem determination.
Demonstrated ability to gather, organize and analyze data in the completion of a variety of functional assignments.
Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.
Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team. Required
Ability to plan, configure and install Citrix NetScaler load balancing, WAF and access gateway configurations.
Familiarity with InfoBlox NIOS-based DNS/DHCP/IPAM implementations.
Familiarity with Cisco CUCM-based VOIP systems and Cloud-based phone systems.
Familiarity with and ability to configure Cisco UCS Fabric Interconnect. Preferred
