We have an immediate opening for a Chief Information Officer. Reporting to the Managing Partner and working closely with the Firm’s Technology Committee, the CIO is responsible for ensuring that the firm’s information and telecommunications technology supports the needs of the firm’s attorneys, clients and staff. The Chief Information Officer will provide technology leadership; direct, plan, organize and supervise the activities of the IT Department; ensure the effective and secure operation of technology systems and services; and manage the IT budget and resources and vendor relationships. The CIO is expected to focus on user-facing technologies and user support. Hooper, Lundy and Bookman has the best attorneys in the health care field and requires the best technology and technologists available to support those attorneys and their clients.
Provide leadership and direction for the Firm’s technology and the IT Department.
Establish and direct the goals of the IT department to ensure alignment with the goals of the business.
Evaluate alternative technologies to enhance efficiency, security and user mobility.
Build effective working relationships with the firm’s attorneys and staff.
Understand the technology needs of the firm’s users and clients, and implement and support appropriate solutions.
Clearly communicate IT initiatives and priorities.
Develop and enhance technology policies and procedures.
Communicate regularly and effectively with the Technology Committee, the Managing Partner and the Board on significant issues, risks, opportunities and progress towards business goals.
Ensure attorney and staff have the appropriate tools to perform their duties and serve the Firm’s clients.
In coordination with the Firm’s Chief Human Resources Officer, manage department personnel, including structuring and directing current staff, recruiting new staff as needed, and developing and implementing a staff development program for staff retention.
Promote a working environment that fosters excellence, high productivity and high morale among IT staff, and positive and constructive relationships with users.
Develop and implement short- and long-term plans for the department that translate firm and department goals into specific, actionable steps.
Bring structure and predictability to the delivery of IT services while remaining flexible and responsive when circumstances require.
Select and manage technology vendors to assure high quality standards and economical contracts.
Manage the day-to-day operations of the information technology department.
Prepare and manage the IT budget to actual; identified and explain variances.
Procure, install and maintain computer and telecommunications hardware, software, and all other products and supplies necessary to keep technology systems operable.
Identify user needs, resolve problems and direct the IT team to provide employees with top quality, consistently available computer service, support, training and maintenance of technology systems.
Take the necessary steps to ensure that the computer and telecommunications systems run smoothly and dependably, including system upgrades, maintenance and back-ups.
Assure compliance with all regulatory requirements including HIPAA.
Maintain security of all Firm data and establish and administer complete business continuity, disaster recovery, and incident response plans for all systems, applications and data.
Manage the selection, implementation and integration of telecommunications equipment and services, including telephone and videoconferencing systems.
BS in a related field with a masters preferred, and at least 15 years of experience in the Information Technology arena. At least 10 years management and strategic planning experience, preferably in a law firm environment. Extensive experience with Microsoft systems and Legal specific software and vendors. Strong understanding of all key IT governance and information security areas. Strong understanding of networking and high availability considerations. A demonstrated strong commitment to user satisfaction, and a hands-on approach to system configuration, implementation and maintenance .
