As a member of our Pituitary group, you will work independently and in close collaboration and consultation with the Principal Investigator, Dr. Shlomo Melmed and other Research Scientists performing routine and complex laboratory procedures throughout your training period. You may develop, adapt, and implement new research techniques and protocols, analyze and interpret data as well as assist in preparation of grant proposals. You will participate in publications and presentations both as an author or co-author. You will not be responsible for generating grant funds.

As a Postdoctoral Scientist you will have an excellent opportunity to investigate mechanisms of pituitary tumorigenesis. The projects conducted in the lab include specific laboratory procedures such as: plasmid construction, DNA/RNA/protein extraction, SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, western blotting, immunoprecipitation, luciferase reporter gene assay, site-directed mutagenesis, Glutathione S-transferase (GST) pull-down experiments, PCR, RT-PCR, quantitative real-time PCR, ELISA, IgG purification, DNA digestion, DNA amplification, ligation and subcloning, DNA or siRNA transfection, direct sequencing, mammalian cell culture and transfection, blood and organ collection (from rats and mice), isolation of primary hepatocyte (rat), primary culture of anterior pituitary cells (mice), injection into tail vein of mice, in vivo knockdown experiment by antisense oligonucleotide.
