Position Summary: Information Technology Services at the University of California Office of the President seeks student interns for summer 2018. This is a paid internship designed for currently enrolled University of California students interested in information technology, including data visualization, quality assurance, and marketing/communications. Participants will:
*Propose, develop, implement, and present projects *Learn about IT operations *Gain experience working with IT managers and staff *Have the opportunity to attend an annual computing s services conference *Network with other interns at social and other events.
The IT Marketing and Communications Intern will help implement the CIO's vision for an integrated communications strategy that promotes community among UC's 7000 IT professionals and connects the IT function with the UC mission. The intern will use social media and other communications tools, and create content including blog articles, videos, graphics, photographs, and other marketing materials as needed.

These positions can be assigned up to 50%l time, during the summer, with the possibility of extension.

Duty 1: Determine requirements by studying business functions, gathering information from the stakeholders, evaluating the current state of the financial applications and planning for future migrations Function:Project work: Percent: 35
Duty 2: Construct workflow charts, system diagrams and write functional specifications Function:Documentation: Percent: 35
Duty 3: Analyzing, interpreting the data and generate reports tailored to various audience including management Function:Data Analysis Percent: 30
Job Requirements - Currently enrolled University of California student. -Analytical and detail oriented -Good written and verbal communication skills -Good at writing documents in a clear and concise manner -Can adapt and learn new things and technology quickly -Can understand the overall system flow and project lifecycle -Some experience working in a real-life IT project setting is a plus -Some experience working with financial applications is a plus -Experience with using tools to communicate the system flow and design in a visually appealing manner (For example, Visio or tools to draw flow charts) -Microsoft Word, Adobe Writer, Excel or similar -Computer Science Students or at least taken courses in Computer Science (Such as Algorithms and Data Structure) Required
-Contributes effectively both as an individual and team member -Be able to deal with ambiguities and be able to expand from high level direction -Self-motivated and can work efficiently with minimal supervision Preferred
