Under general supervision of the Director of Library Facilities, perform a variety of semi-skilled labor and general services for the UC San Diego Library, including repair and maintenance, basic carpentry, painting, masonry, electrical, and plumbing. Services may be performed at any of four library facilities: Geisel Library building, Biomedical Library Building, Library Annex on Trade Street, and Scripps Archives & Library Annex located in the Eckart Building;
The incumbent may be assigned to one of these locations for an extended period of time. Conducts regular physical inspections of library facilities to identify potential hazards and needed repairs. Assists with transportation of library collection and non-collection materials, including furniture, equipment, and boxed archival records, within and between library facilities. Serves as back-up mail services coordinator. May serve as work leader for student employees.

Two (2) years experience performing semi-skilled repair and maintenance work, including preventive maintenance, breakdown repair, and troubleshooting.
Skill in construction, assembly, repair, and maintenance of office equipment and furniture; experience working with paints, patching materials, plumbing, HVAC and electrical circuits.
Demonstrated knowledge of proper use and maintenance of hand and power tools related to job functions.
Active listening, interpersonal communication, and problem-solving skills to effectively resolve questions, concerns, issues or problems and ensure cooperative and productive working relationships.
Basic computer skills to use word processing, spreadsheet, email/calendar, and web browser software.
FBI/DOJ background and DMV clearances required prior to employment.
Must possess and maintain a valid CA Class C driver's license. Must participate in the DMV Pull Notice Program.
May be called upon to work different or altered shifts, weekends, holidays, and/or overtime.
