Amongst all of the sights and sounds, the USC Hotel offers a modern and convenient place to unwind, with 240 spacious, comfortable guest rooms and over 15,000 square feet of flexible event space. Owned and operated by the University of Southern California, and the site of a recent multi-million dollar renovation, the hotel features luxurious fabrics and artwork depicting the storied traditions of USC. Additional renovations, which include the restaurants and kitchens, are in the planning stage.
We are seeking an Assistant Chief Engineer to join our rapidly growing team.
With all of our recently renovations and updates, we need an Assistant Chief Engineer to monitor our facilities and ensure that we maintain our high standards of excellence. You will work closely with the Facilities Manager to maintain the condition of the USC Hotel and ensure asset protection, sanitation, and security to make sure all safety conditions are met. The Assistant Chief Engineer will also have the responsibility of assigning, tracking, and evaluating the status of work assigned to staff and contractors. Most of all, your focus on customer service will demonstrate to our students, faculty, and staff that we put their needs first!
Supervise unit employees and/or student workers in the absence of Facilities Manager. Schedule, assign, and prioritize workloads. Set appropriate deadlines and ensure timely completion of unitâs work.
Assist with coordination of facilities operations, maintenance, construction, and renovation projects with university departments and/or outside contractors and vendors. Compile data for cost allocation and create status/project reports, as requested by senior management.
Monitor and analyze facilities expenses. Assist with developing facilities cost projections, as required.
Collaborate with Facilities Manager to prepare long and short range plans for the use of facilities. Maintain analysis of space and equipment requirements and allocate usage based on departmental priorities.
Conduct safety inspections, determining whether conditions are safe and any remedial actions required to allow work to continue. Ensure compliance with health and safety, environmental risk management policies and procedures in conjunction with the Facilities Manager. Provide health and safety equipment, as needed.
Develop and implement security related procedures such as office opening and closing routines, recognition of duress signals, and key controls. Coordinate security activities with university Public Safety Department. Promote and maintain standards for security conscious awareness and behavior. Maintain knowledge of universityâs crime prevention and suppression programs and services. Ensure dissemination of security related information to staff.
Serve as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) and mandatory reported under the Clery Act based on university responsibilities. Have responsibility and is required to receive reports of crimes or criminal incidents from victims of crimes and/or third parties, notify the Department of Public Safety immediately of any reported serious crime or criminal incidents that indicates the presence of an ongoing threat to the university community, and notify the Clery Compliance Coordinator in the Department of Public Safety.
