The University of Southern Californiaâs Iovine and Young Academy is seeking a Facilities Technician to assist the Facilities Manager with the maintenance, allocation and utilization of space and equipment across all school facilities. The ideal candidate will have experience with spaces that house advanced or specialized classroom and maker space technologies and equipment, including 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC routers, etc., and experience with new construction, build-outs, and renovations.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES / JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
Principal duties will include:
Provide general maintenance and repairs for facilities and equipment (e.g., air conditioners, heaters, appliances, furniture, pumps, copiers, cabinets, sinks, etc.) which may include electrical, carpentry, flooring, painting, plumbing and locksmith services, and assisting in day to day management of facilities.
Coordinates installation, removal, repairs, upgrades and on-going preventive maintenance; resolves problems and follows through on work order requests. Oversees routine maintenance inspections of facilities for deficiencies, health and safety hazards, and/or code violations; maintains on-site storage areas; implements security related procedures.
Maintains logs of facilities and equipment maintenance, upgrades, repairs and/or requests.
Provides technical management services for equipment repairs and access; maintains equipment inventory, and badge access and privileges.Â
Oversees maintenance staff and student-workers as assigned; ensures assignments are completed properly and within established timeframe.
Oversees facilities services and supervises unit in the absence of facilities manager; contributes to long-range planning; assists with developing facilities projects as it relates to:
Various facilities contracts
Compilation of data for cost and status reports for projects assigned
Maintains facilitiesâ main security accesses, including ordering and maintaining keys, and coordinating locksmith services.
Completes event setups and assists with event management, including unlocking meeting rooms, inspecting all equipment for proper functioning before setting up in a meeting room, maintaining orderly appearance in all storage areas; conducting regular inventory of setup equipment; maintaining the appearance/cleanliness of public spaces, classrooms and meeting rooms; assisting with resetting spaces after events/meetings.
Serves as department floater, providing backup support to other department personnel; may include courier service, receptionist and stocking duties.
Processes and delivers incoming and outgoing inter-office and U.S. First Class mail; sorts incoming mail for distribution and dispatches outgoing mail.
Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
