Residential and Student Service Programs (RSSP) is a complex cluster of departments within the Division of Student Affairs which provides housing, dining, residential and academic support to 7500+ bed spaces for undergraduates, 1000+ apartments for single undergraduate & graduate students, faculty and affiliated families along with ancillary programs such as campus dining, child care, and catering and conference services that support a broader student, faculty and staff customer base. Many residential operations operate 24/7/365 days requiring on-call and off hours emergency response. With approximately 1,800 career, contract and student employees covered by multiple personnel policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, approximately 150 buildings (estimated 3 million square feet), and an annual budget in excess of $160 million, RSSP is one of the largest clusters at UC Berkeley
Under direction, develops project scopes, investigates facility's needs, and solicits bids, works with onsite contractors and other vendors to coordinate work schedules, facilitate access, and track progress of work.
Functions as Project Manager on assigned, smaller scope projects
Under direction, manages signage replacement
Provides assistance to Project Managers on larger projects including producing drawings as directed; conducting site visits to confirm existing conditions, dimensions; developing work scope and schedule documents; taking and distributing project meeting notes, handling field coordination with contractors and service providers, conducts bid walks for assigned projects
Assists with submitting purchase requisitions
Assists with updating project tracking database
Develops presentations, design sample boards, illustrations, charts, graphs, and other documents related to project review, approvals, compliance, etc.
CAD and Graphic Drawings:
Develops, monitors, tracks, updates all CAD files for RSSP facilities as used by maintenance, custodial, grounds, Campus Facilities Services, Capital Projects as well as other outside design professionals, vendors or contractors.
Handles all service requests for specialized CAD and graphic drawings to meet specific requests including equipment layouts, life safety device locations, utilities shut-off maps, 3-dimensional, and similar specialized drawing requests.
Coordinates with space management to ensure compliance with campus requirements in naming conventions, clarifying occupancy types, room numbering conventions, and related data.
Provides, updates, and revises CAD drawings to support the computerized maintenance management system.
Reviews facility project drawings or plans and reports errors or omissions to management.
Supports RSSP move-in operations and emergency response preparedness with drawings, graphics and building data.
Building Data Records Management:
Acts as liaison with RSSP groups, Campus Facilities Services, Capital Projects, outside design professionals to research, produce, and summarize building data requests, and retrieve or produce specific CAD drawings to meet specific requests.
Responds to all client requests for floor and site plans, building data, size, occupancies, and related information.
Supports RSSP Central Maintenance operations with drawings, building data, researches building questions, resolves building records discrepancies.
Under direction, manages the RSSP Plan Room.
Under direction, manages RSSP building specification documents, manuals, files.
Under direction, manages the RSSP Design Group library.
Performs field surveys of buildings, sites, facility amenities, and features.
Compile survey data into reports.
Function as Facilities Team Member:
May act as department representative for department/campus special projects related to department facilities.
Assists management in development of annual facilities budget.
Bachelors degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
Working knowledge of practices and procedures relating to facility maintenance and construction.
Working knowledge of practices and procedures of safety and emergency preparedness.
Proficiency in CAD, Acrobat, Excel or other spreadsheet application, Word or other word processing application.
Working organizational skills to work on multiple projects with competing deadlines, to establish goals and work load priorities, and to meet project deadlines within budget and time constraints.
Written communication skills to prepare a variety of correspondence, reports, policies and procedures, and training documents.
Active listening, interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills to effectively resolve questions, concerns, issues or problems and ensure cooperative and productive working relationships.

Advanced CAD capabilities

Salary & Benefits
Hourly Salary Range: $28.74 - $33.53
