Application Review Date The First Review Date for this job is: December 3, 2019 Departmental Overview At the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Education (GSE), we take the future and the preparation of all members of the next generation for innovation, creativity, and change on earth quite seriously. Many of our faculty and students commit themselves to the eradication of educational inequality, which is both a symptom and a driver of economic and social divides. All students deserve a robust educational foundation and the chance to develop the critical skills needed to navigate college and professional workforces. The Berkeley Evaluation and Assessment Research (BEAR) Center, Established in 1994 is a complex research and service unit that conducts research on the integration of assessment (the measurement of individual students, teachers, school and other institutions) and evaluation (the use of such assessments to study educational and social intervention). The core of this research is the development and use of appropriate assessment methods for evaluating students, schools and educational policy. The Center collaborates with researchers in universities nationally and internationally to develop software and other resources for constructing, managing, administering, and analyzing assessment. The Center employs approximately 20 professional researchers, postdoctoral scholars, graduate student researchers, information technology professionals, and staff. Funding for the Center is derived from the federal, state, and private contracts and grants and business contracts. The annual operating budget averages $2m. The position serves as a liaison from the Center's Administrative functions. The position assists in determining and identifying best practices to meet the Center's goals. Responsibilities
