ResponsibilitiesThe Senior Backup Administrator will provide administration, and support for large-scale advanced health system spanning different classification levels that currently supports 15,000+ users. This position does require design, engineering of certain storage infrastructures. The team works in a dynamic environment, on critical, high-visibility technology platforms. This is not the typical systems administration position, but instead requires a combination of many different advanced skill sets. The Senior Backup Administrator traits that are important include strong work ethic, flexibility in day-to-day tasking, and excellent customer-facing skills. The ideal candidate would be independently self-sufficient, but also able to provide mentoring and support to other administrators. Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
Minimum 10 years' experience designing, implementing, and supporting SAN and NAS disk array solutions.
Expert understanding of RAID levels, LUNs (virtual and direct), file systems, NFS, CIFS, fibre channel; strengths and weaknesses of each and when one is more appropriate than the other.
Expert knowledge in design and administration of IBM Spectrum Protect / IBM Tivoli Storage Manager.
Experience with NDMP, CIFS, NFS, deduplication and compression.
Extensive knowledge of SAN and NAS constructs (LUNs, Aggregation, Volume / Filesystem, Replication, Snapshots, QTrees / Virtual Volumes).
Extensive knowledge of large database performance and storage integration.
Strong knowledge on installation, configuration, administration, and troubleshooting of NetApp, Hitachi storage systems, Brocade, QLogic, and Cisco storage networking gear (Ethernet and fibre channel); understand the strengths and weaknesses of the broad spectrum of storage products available on the market.
Knowledge of tiers of data and technology to implement effective tiering policies.
Knowledge of TCP/IP and related protocols.
Knowledge of replication requirements for effective disaster recovery.
Understands NTFS security.
Understands data classifications and effective methods of storing different classes.
Understands Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) and Fiber Optics Networks (SONET).
Understands TCP/IP Stack, NFS, CIFS, Fibre Channel Protocol and FICON.
Core understanding of the different data access patterns for various data types, including database, document, revision control, audio, 3D, and video, and what makes different storage types more appropriate for each.
