The ISI Center on Knowledge Graphs (https://usc-isi-i2.github.io/home) is hiring for a Postdoctoral Scholar position. Individuals in this role will be responsible for conducting basic research into problems related to knowledge graph construction under the supervision of USC faculty members.
This is a one year, fixed-term appointment, with a possibility of extension for additional years.
Potential research topics include information extraction, knowledge representation, neurosymbolic approaches to reasoning, probabilistic modeling, and explainable human-computer interaction espousing FATE principles.
Postdoctoral scholars in this position will join a team of distinguished scientists working on projects including commonsense reasoning, adversarial training of AIs, automated evaluation of theÂ reproducibility of scientific research, building a general toolkit for knowledge graph construction, and creating systems to address real-world problems such as food insecurity, disaster relief, and human trafficking.
The candidate will collaborate with other researchers and help supervise a team of research programmers, Ph.D. and Masterâs students. Postdoctoral scholars will receive mentoring, support for conference travel, and the ability to work closely with graduate students.
Applicants with a strong background in probabilistic modeling and knowledge graph construction are particularly encouraged to apply.
A successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Computer Science or related field and a strong publication record demonstrating creative work in artificial intelligence in venues relevant to machine learning, data science, natural language processing, or the semantic web and knowledge graphs.Â
The successful candidate will publish in top journals and conferences and collaborate with other researchers both within USC and at other institutions.
