The Director of Procurement leads the Procurement and Supply Chain Services within the Financial Affairs Unit, reports to the Campus Controller. The Director of Procurement is focused on strategic sourcing, procurement, supply chain management and the supporting technologies. The Director collaborates with the Controller's Office to provide leadership, direction and management of the procurement process for UCSC.
The Director works independently to establish strategies, controls, processes, techniques, evaluation criteria, policies and procedures and consults with the UCSC leadership as appropriate. Works on purchasing initiatives of diverse scope where analysis of situations and data requires evaluation of a variety of factors. Leads and/or participates in significant projects system-wide in collaboration with the UC Chief Procurement Officer, UCOP, campus, and system-wide peers to drive supply chain best practices and benefits across the UC system.
As leader of campus procurement, this position is the business owner for the Jagger CruzBuy. The position also has oversight of the P-card program, which offers small dollar purchasing flexibility for the campus, especially with suppliers who do not accept purchase orders.
Procurement and Supply Chain Services is the Department within the Financial Affairs Unit responsible for providing the tools and business processes for acquiring goods and services at UCSC. The Procurement Services Office Director is responsible for managing a variety of Santa Cruz campus procurement functions, including purchasing, business contracts, strategic sourcing and eProcurement. The Director provides leadership to an office consisting of about 18 people, serving a campus of approximately 19,500 students and 4,700 faculty and staff.
