The Berkeley Evaluation and Assessment Research (BEAR) Center, Established in 1994 is a complex research and service unit that conducts research on the integration of assessment (the measurement of individual students, teachers, school and other institutions) and evaluation (the use of such assessments to study educational and social intervention). The core of this research is the development and use of appropriate assessment methods for evaluating students, schools and educational policy. The Center collaborates with researchers in universities nationally and internationally to develop software and other resources for constructing, managing, administering, and analyzing assessment.
Lead teams of developers to meet high demands of deliverables for a large web application in fast paced changing environment; may lead a team of applications programming professionals.
Use agile driven project management methods to complete features and resolve defects in multiple software releases.
Optimize the performance of an existing form based VB.NET web application to meet the demands of thousands of concurrent users.
Suggest and implement user interface changes to enhance user experience and performance characteristics of the application, and make recommendations for systems improvements.
Design develop, modify and debug complex web based applications using object oriented programming and best design practices using VP.NET technologies.
Analyze existing programs and formulate logic for new systems, devise logic procedures, test and debug programs through the application of professional programming concepts, all of which need to conform to the web accessibility standards.
Develop code that will retrieve and process large amounts of data from a MS SQL Server databases.
Oversee training users in conversion and implementation of system.
Understands industry practices and department policies and procedures relating to work assignments.
Interacts with senior level Directors and Associate Director of Operations.
Performs highly complex data modeling, performance and integration testing and builds screens.
Experience with Agile driven project management, particularly SCRUM with successful delivery of software releases in a timely manner.
Ability to mobilize developers, testers and other personnel with diverse strengths.
Working experience with enterprise and production grad web applications.
Experience in ASP.NET(VB.NET or C#) web applications development.
Sound understanding of object-oriented programming, good design practices (model-view-controller paradigm, other design patterns, etc.).
Experience with architecting, manipulating, optimizing, monitoring a production grade SQL Server database.
Ability to write sophisticated SQL Server queries, optimize queries, write store procedures and experience with profiling tools and query optimization.
Must be able to work independently as well as with teams.
Experience with advanced quality control procedures.
Experience with form based paradigm of VB.net and code optimization.
Experience with memory caching methods for large amounts of data retrieval from the database in conjunction to SQL query optimization.
Bachelor's degree in math, science or engineering, or related training/experience.
