Primary Purpose: Reporting to the Senior Director of Digital Communications, University of the Pacific's Manager of Digital Communications is responsible for developing, managing and executing effective digital communications strategies. In partnership with the Senior Director of Digital Communications, the Manager of Digital Communications, ensures all digital experiences align with and support the university's mission, vision, values, brand, reputation and strategic goals. As the manager for all digital channels and touchpoints for Pacific's three campuses (Stockton, Sacramento and San Francisco): oversees various university web sites, digital distribution channels, digital advertising measurement, and search engine optimization (SEO). Brings a deep and diverse understanding of new and emerging digital technologies and best practices; web design, development and management; analytics; email marketing; content strategy; SEO and search engine marketing (SEM). Demonstrates working knowledge of contemporary content management systems, project management, web analytics and social media strategy. Collaborates with marketing and communications colleagues to reach target audiences and drive organic and paid traffic to the university's website, provides metrics and interprets and communicates research and data effectively to garner cross-divisional participation and support. Supervises digital media specialist team.
Essential Functions: 1. Effectively plans, implements, manages, and monitors all website updates and upgrades.
2. Conducts regular content audits to eliminate redundant and/or duplicate information, and ensures website quality and efficiency by conducting regular test plans.
3. Creates strategies to increase visitor base through content enhancement, personal interaction integration and digital traffic metrics.
4. Keeps up to date with industry best practice and monitors competitor websites.
5. Serves as trusted advisor to Senior Director on user focused digital marketing and communications strategy and execution: including content metrics, search management progress, and overall content improvements.
6. Effectively supervises, coaches and mentors the digital media specialists for website and social media campaigns; helps direct reports develop relevant skill sets and create plans to grow professionally; sets clear performance expectations and goals for direct reports; supports them in achieving their goals and holds them accountable for performance.
7. Works collaboratively across the university with colleagues involved in the universitys digital marketing channels, including information technology staff, marketing professionals and clients to develop or improve digital media assets, including websites and social media campaigns.
8. Ensures digital design relevancy, accuracy, and alignment with the universitys brand identity.
9. Implements governance and workflow management to maintain best practices across all digital assets.
10. Develops and communicates design ideas through tools such as process flow, site maps and wireframes.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree in marketing, communications, computer science or related discipline. Experience in digital functions, including (not limited to) digital media development, content marketing, digital advertising, website strategy, and SEO management. Proven management of successful paid search campaigns. Strong understanding of current digital marketing concepts, strategy and best practices. Adept at setting and measuring digital activity to manage progress toward goals; strong research and analytical skills to forecast and identify trends and challenges. Strong project and time management skills. Adaptable problem-solver and team player who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and meets deadlines. Ability to work autonomously and make decisions based on sound judgment. Proficiency to build, manage and mentor high-performance, highly collaborative teams. Ability to provide coaching or feedback in a constructive manner. Positive attitude, proven ability to work successfully with diverse populations and demonstrated commitment to promote and enhance diversity and inclusion. Ability to perform duties using highest level of confidentiality and discretion in sensitive issues. Excellent writing, editing and presentation skills; clear and articulate communicator who can translate complex technical ideas easily. Ability and willingness to travel (mostly within Stockton, San Francisco and Stockton) and to work non-traditional office hours, evenings and weekends, as needed.
Preferred Qualifications: Adaptable problem-solver and team player who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and meets deadlines. Ability to produce and measure the effectiveness of content across a wide range of platforms, including social media, digital media, and websites. Experience and understanding of social media and how to effectively use channels. Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, Content Management Systems and Search Engine Management. Experience working with senior leaders on strategic initiatives.

Work Environment/Work Week/Travel: Work is primarily performed in a standard office environment with use of computer and phone. Work performed during standard business hours. Occasionally requires work during non-standard business hours based on business needs or deadlines.
Valid drivers license required. Incumbent must also be able to meet the Universitys fleet rules and be eligible to drive for University business. The University and its insurance carrier reserves the right to exclude applicants based on their driving record.
