Under the general direction of the Payroll Systems Supervisor, the Senior Financial Payroll Analyst plays a key role in establishing and maintaining strategic partnership between business needs and technology delivery in a fast paced IT environment. The analyst will work closely with business partners (GL, TRS, Tax, Benefits, HR, and Production), the Medical Center Payroll, College of Health Sciences Payroll, and UCPATH to resolve issues, determine requirements, and develop functional design based on the analysis of the business needs and objectives. Collaborate effectively with developers to ensure requirements and functional designs are translated accurately into working technical designs and that test scripts meet customer needs.
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business or information technology. 5+ years business analysis experience, preferable in a payroll/HRIS or IT environment. Experience extracting data for analysis. Using code to pull data for interpretation and system analysis Experience running reports from databases. Demonstrated ability to identify logical solutions to present/potential problems and manage risk. Strong critical analysis, design, and creative problem-solving skills. Possess strong mathematical, statistical, and logical skills Solid understanding of database structure and design. Data modeling experience and working knowledge of relational database. Demonstrated communication skills that are concise, logical and grammatically correct for correspondence. Excellent skills in oral presentations. Skills in analyzing problems, situations, practices, or procedures to: identify and define a problem, formulate a solution, and prepare the necessary actions to follow through. Experience with system testing at both planning and hands-on levels.
Specific Knowledge in Payroll which includes Earnings, Deductions, Taxes, Pay Groups, On-Cycle Processing, Off-Cycle Processing, Retro Processing and other Payroll objects System testing and implementation experience preferred Experience with People Soft, TRS, ServiceNow, SQL and Cognos. Experience working in higher education.
