The incumbent will function as a Psychologist in the interdisciplinary clinical and research program on Alzheimer's disease, related dementias, and healthy aging, under the general supervision of a licensed Clinical Psychologist specializing in Neuropsychology. This individual will be responsible for the administration of a battery of standardized cognitive and other tests to elderly research participants and patients at the Alzheimer's disease Research Center (ADRC) at the UCI Institute for Memory Impairments and Neurological Disorders (UCI MIND) for both the observational, longitudinal cohort as well as participants in clinical trials. Additionally, UCI MIND serves as a California Alzheimer's Disease Center (CADC) with a memory evaluation clinic, and has other collaborative clinical operations, where the incumbent is involved in neuropsychological and other structured assessments. Primary responsibilities include (1) administration of routine and complex batteries of neuropsychological tests or other structured clinical assessments to patients and participants, (2) scoring of psychometric tests, (3) interview and collect data from patients/participants and caregivers, (4) assist with report writing and documentation, and (5) assist with screening and scheduling of patients/participants. Incumbent to this position must be sensitive to the physical and psychological needs of the elderly and those with neurocognitive disorders. The incumbent should be prepared to engage in research studies and feels comfortable being in a research setting. Additional responsibilities will include teaching and shared oversight and supervision of neuropsychology and other trainees.
Ph.D. or Psy.D. in psychology from an accredited university or professional school approved by the American Psychological Association, including didactic and experimental training in neuropsychology. Candidates should have pre-doctoral training or rotation/specialized training in neuropsychology. Individuals will have accrued, or are close to accruing, the required number of specialized hours of formal post-doctoral training for licensure, preferably in neuropsychology working in a medical setting. Candidates who are within 3-months of completing and passing the EPPP and Jurisprudence exams may be considered. Candidates with more extensive experience may also be considered for this position.
Experience in testing both healthy and cognitively impaired/demented geriatric populations
Demonstrated experience performing various neuropsychological tests
Experience in research and data collection
Knowledge of HIPAA privacy guidelines
Excellent organizational skills
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Excellent computer skills and adaptable to different devices (tablet-based data capture and test administration)
Demonstration of good interpersonal skills
Minimum of one-year experience in the administration and scoring of neuropsychological tests
Experience working with both healthy and cognitively impaired elderly adults (i.e., persons 65 and older)
Experience working in a research/clinical trials setting with a multidisciplinary team (e.g., neurology, psychiatry, nursing)
Knowledge of medical terminology
Experience as a supervisor for trainees or other assessment staff
