The City of Brentwood is seeking a visionary and dynamic leader to fill the position of Assistant Director of Public Works – Operations. Under the direction of the Director of Public Works, the Assistant Director provides leadership to the Operations Administration, Fleet/Facilities Maintenance, Solid Waste, Street Maintenance, Wastewater, and Water Divisions within the Public Works Department.
Education and Experience Guidelines - Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering, construction, public administration or a closely related field.
Five years of public works related administration, civil engineering, budgeting, maintenance and repairs, operations and contract administration experience, including at least three years in a supervisory or project management capacity.
License or Certificate:
Possession of a California Driver's License must be maintained as a continued condition of employment.
Possession of one of the following is required:
Grade IV (or higher) Certification as a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator from the California State Water Resources Control Board,
Grade T4 (or higher) Certification as a Water Treatment or grade D4 (or higher) Certification as a Water Distribution Operator from the California State Water Resources Control Board,
Certification as a Professional Civil Engineer in the State of California

Located 55 miles east of San Francisco, the City of Brentwood is a charming and desirable
community for residents and businesses alike. Incorporated in 1948, Brentwood is
located in the far Eastern Contra Costa County region of the San Francisco Bay Area. The
community has a long and storied history in agriculture and farming production. That

The City provides a full range of services including Police, Parks and Recreation, Public
Works, Economic Development, Planning, Building, Code Enforcement, Engineering and
Inspection, Housing, and General Administrative Services. The City of Brentwood receives
fire protection services from the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District. The City operates
public water and wastewater utilities, as well as providing refuse collection and disposal,
and a recycling program.
