IS Architecture is an award-winning firm in La Jolla that specializes in Custom Residential Architecture and Historic Preservation. We are a small office of seven seeking a highly motivated Associate Designer to join our team. Responsibilities include, but not limited to…
Collaboration with the Project Managers and Principal Architect from schematic design through construction documents for single family residences and historic buildings
Support the Project Managers with designs, drafting, detailing, documentation, 3D modeling and rendering in Revit
Processing permits with building departments and municipalities, including addressing plan check comments and corrections
As-built measurements and documentation of existing homes and historic buildings
Communication with clients, consultants, vendors, contractors, building officials
Coordination of consultant and vendor drawings and plans
Possibility of required travel for architectural support
A qualified candidate will…
Have a professional degree in Architecture, Bachelor’s or higher, from an accredited architecture program
Have 2 to 5 years of experience
Be proficient in Autodesk AEC Collection, Revit and AutoCAD
Have experience using Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Bluebeam Revu
Have excellent communication skills, oral and written
Be focused on technical accuracy
Be organized and time-efficient while working on multiple tasks on multiple projects
Be self-motivated and self-directed
Be able to work independently and collaborate with a team of people
Be resourceful and willing to bring and share new ideas
Have a positive and optimistic attitude
Be able to provide their own reliable transportation, driver’s license, and automobile insurance
Preference will be given to applicants with…
Additional studies/certification in Historic Preservation
A passion for historic preservation architecture
Knowledge of the Secretary of Interior’s Standards
Work experience on historic buildings
Custom single-family residential experience
Advanced Revit 3D modeling and rendering abilities
Able to prepare a full set of Construction Documents, including construction detailing
Experience in all phases of design
Knowledge of state building code and local planning processes,

Due to COVID-19, a typical work schedule would be two to three days in the office and two to three days working remotely, whichever work combination totals five days a week. (laptop provided)
Reimbursement for 50% of Architectural Registration Exams, paid AIA annual dues and license fees.
