Functioning under the umbrella of the Facilities Planning and Development Division at UC Davis Health, the Facilities Planning Department is responsible for advising and assisting UC Davis Health's leadership with the planning, oversight, and allocation of investments in future and existing capital and space improvements on the UC Davis Health Sacramento Campus. Facilities Planning (in coordination with the UC Davis Main Campus) provides guidance and oversight of UC Davis Health's Capital Improvement Program and capital project approval process; manages and advise upon the allocation of spatial resources and capital and lease investments; provides space utilization assessments and transition planning services; oversees real property (leased) as tenant representative; delivers tenant improvement projects in existing and new leased spaces; and develops and guides offsite facility operations for UCDH.
The Space, Real Estate, and Off-site Operations Unit within Facilities Planning analyzes building space and equipment needs; manages and allocates space; oversees the Real Estate acquisition, leasing, and disposition process; provides technical information and advice on building space needs; monitors spatial utilization; prepares facilities surveys and building capacity analyses; oversees the facilities data base; manages tenant improvements and third-party projects; provides property management and building oversight; and also develops and oversees offsite building operations and maintenance in accordance with established policies and procedure.

Responsibilities Under the direction of the Associate Director for Space, Real Estate and Offsite Operations, the Space Inventory Specialist serves as a technical leader in the management and maintenance of spatial data in the campus space database (FacilitiesLink), adherence to space policy (UCOP and UC Davis), space planning, and minor project and lease portfolio management. This position works strategically with other units to integrate metrics, reporting and processes related to disseminating data and using that data for broad decision making and support of various strategic goals. This position requires frequent interaction with the School of Medicine (SOM) Office of Research (OR), SOM Department/Division/Unit/CAO's and other FDC units as well as the broad knowledge of the various campus initiatives regarding space. This position also supports space and capital planning by developing plans and supporting documentation needed to implement such plans; assisting with lease portfolio planning and development; and supporting minor construction projects as needed.
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Architecture, Engineering, Accounting, Computer Science, Hospital Administration, Business, or a related field or intermediate to extensive years of experience in database management for hospital space, space planning/programming, facilities planning, research facilities, and/or asset management.
Good interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) to understand and appropriately respond to multiple and frequent inquiries and requests while providing instructions to others in a concise, cooperative, and professional manner.
Advanced analytical skills and experience, including experience in generating reports, using spreadsheet applications, and reporting complex data and information in an organized and understandable manner.
Experience preparing visual reporting tools, including charts, graphs, flow charts, and other graphics to clearly and concisely communicate complex material and sequential relationships for decision making purposes.
Experience providing analysis involving complex issues and data sources including analytical techniques, writing, metrics and data sources for assessing medical facility utilization.
Strong attention to detail and skill to provide accurate data and produce accurate tables and reports.
Experience utilizing various software programs/operating systems (i.e. Windows OS, Mac OS, Microsoft Office, FacilitiesLink, Compass, Adobe Creative Cloud, Cayuse, Tableau, Compass, and other internet applications), master new programs quickly and provide training as needed; convert documents between various applications and standardize the appearance of information to maximize clarity and consistency.
An advanced degree or certification related to database management, project management, or business analysis.
Experience in developing and maintaining web-based databases (preferably dealing with space and/or asset management; FacilitiesLink, Tableau, etc.) to include maintaining standards and data quality and creating or using query and reporting tools for various metrics.
Experience with advanced design systems such as GIS, AutoCad, Bluebeam, Revit.
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to analyze information, situations, problems, and/or policies and procedures to determine solutions, formulate logical conclusions, prepare analysis and implement solutions including metrics and data sources
Familiarity with Joint Commission Standards, California and industry building codes and regulations pertaining to hospitals and healthcare facilities, ADA compliance, fire codes, municipal ordinances, university regulations, policies and procedures, including UCOP policies pertaining to lease property.
Valid California Driver's license and ability to drive and access a car.
Occasional travel may be required, which may include driving to the Davis campus as well as outpatient clinics throughout the Sacramento region, etc.
Ability to work in an open or busy shared office environment with constant interruptions and various noise.
Ability to sit at a computer for extended periods of time.
Ability to lift up to 25lbs.
Ability to walk and stand for an extended period of time to audit rooms and spaces.
