The Quantitative Research Technology (QRT) group within the Application Services ITG is set up to enable and scale quantitative research and analytics to meet Investment Group and Distribution needs. We are responsible for partnering with QRA (Quantitative Results and Analytics group) in Quantitative research, experimentation and prototyping complex quantitative models including portfolio risk, optimization and portfolio construction.

The Data Engineer based in downtown Los Angeles, CA partners with quantitative researchers and technology teams to design, engineer, build, test and maintain complex quantitative models that are used for various investment management activities. Strong engineering and data analysis skills, ability to translate complex quantitative models into working software, robust experimental approach to validate the models, ability to quickly understand capital markets (equity and fixed income), modern portfolio theory, various market data sources, industry standard portfolio risk models, learn new technologies and business areas are essential. You will also be responsible for modeling complex problems, discovering insights, and identifying opportunities through the use of statistics, algorithms, and data mining.
Develop deep trusting partnership with quantitative research groups to design, implement , test and maintain complex quantitative models
Leads team in the research, prototyping, historical back testing and implementation of quantitative models used for analyzing risk and construction of portfolios
Leads team in the development, testing, and implementation of quantitative solutions, by translating business data and non-functional requirements into working code.
Leads team in analysis, interpretation, and visualization of data to help meet complex reporting and analytical business needs for requests from senior business stakeholders in investment and distribution groups.
Hands on coding expertise in quantitative tools like R, Python, deep data analysis skills using tools like SQL and strong foundation in statistical sciences is essential
Advanced Degree preferred in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field
At least 6 years of experience in an analyst or development role working with quantitative researchers to experiment, design, build and test quantitative models and help transform them into technology solutions
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Deep expertise in quantitative tools like R, Python, Matlab etc.
Ability to translate business objective into quantitative models, establish hypothesis and design robust experimental approaches to validate them
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Strong data analysis skills using tools like SQL
