DESCRIPTIONUnder direction, the Landscape Construction Superintendent will plan, direct, coordinate and supervise staff in all phases of Landscape Service Operations for a major campus, including but not limited to: Turf Management, Maintenance of Open Turf and Shrubs, Brush Abatement Fire Prevention, Computerized Irrigation Control System, Storm Drain System, Emergency and Repair Services, Outdoor Litter Control, Application of Fertilizers, Operation/Maintenance of Irrigation Systems (manual and semi-automated), Landscape Construction and Installation, Maintenance of Heavy Equipment and Tools, Sports Fields Maintenance and Management, Maintenance of Hard Surfaced Roads, Walks, Bike Paths, Paths, Yards and Parking Areas, Contractor Compliance, and Campus Special Event Support Coordination. The Landscape Construction Superintendent will create long and short term strategies in the planning, organizing and direction of routine and non-routine landscape/groundskeeping operations. Review work orders in Maximo and inspect sites where work is to be performed. Estimate time, cost, labor, equipment and material needs. Assign personnel and order necessary equipment and materials. Discuss job details with subordinates to ensure conformity with work orders, specifications, and safety standards. Instruct assigned team members in proper safety practices and ensure constructive participation in departmental safety programs and safety committees. Act as advisor and technical specialist for new landscape construction acceptance in Campus area. Monitor projects from start to finish ensuring that they meet construction specifications. Oversee and manage landscape-related contract services in assigned areas to ensure quality, productivity and compliance with contract specifications. Use electronic work management program (Maximo) for project scheduling and management, personnel management and work quality control, project cost accounting and account reconciliation. Review, approve, and maintain time and material records including: electronic time sheets, material requisitions, purchase orders, work orders and backlog reports utilizing enterprise software.
