Position: Scheduler and Project Controls

Location: Sacramento, CA (Can sit within another Alston Office, this will be determined by the National Scheduling Director) 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Effectively assist in the mentoring, development and training of Alston jobsite staff in industry best practices and principles of CPM management coupled with scheduling software, both online and on-site. Function as key facilitator and expeditor throughout the plan and schedule development process, as needed.  
  • Monitor, review and analyze the project schedules and status of preconstruction and construction during all phases of the project including the analysis of any schedule deviations and possible corrective actions.
  • Prepare schedule metrics KPI and other various reports/dashboards required by the various internal and external stakeholders, including cash flow and earned schedule calculations.
  • Identify significant schedule risks and report to Division and Operations personnel
  • Assist Alston office’s Business Development, Estimating and Operations staffs in development of proposal and bid schedules, as needed.
  • Understanding of claims and claims issues; accurately develop delay/impact analysis and present
  • Support Scheduling Department functions that enhance the quality of overall company’s scheduling efforts, such as regional production database, historical project durations databases, manpower and/or cash flow information, procurement lead time data, 4D involvement, LEAN principles

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 5-10 Years of general contractor construction scheduling experience required, primarily using Phoenix, Primavera or Asta. 4D software and Smart PM proficiency a plus.
  • PSP or PMI-SP certification preferred
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and training/presentation skills. Must be comfortable presenting and training groups of staff, both online and on-site.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Engineering
  • Field experience, plan reading and general knowledge of construction practices/procedures required
  • Pull planning / Lean experience desired
  • Ability to travel throughout the country, as required (approximately 30-40%). Position based in Eastern or Central US.

  • Comply with all safety policies, report suspected safety concerns, make recommendations for enhancements to the safety program, and visibly support and uphold the company’s strong safety culture.
  • Remain current in all company required safety training and certifications.
  • Acknowledge and celebrate safe behaviors and actions of others.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach.
  • Occasionally required to crawl.
  • Frequently lift 10 lbs and occasionally lift more than 25 lbs.
  • Extensive reading from documents and computer. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Willingness and ability to work extended hours and flexible schedules, including evenings and weekends.
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently.

 

Work Environment

  • The majority of duties consist of office and non-manual work in the field; however, working in an office is at times required.
  • Will be exposed to outside weather elements while in the field.
  • May be exposed to loud noises, fumes, and/or airborne particles while in the field.
  • Dress, including proper PPE, is conducive to a building construction environment.
