Research Associate III - Bioinformatics

The Center for Bioinformatics and Functional Genomics at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is seeking a Research Associate III to join the labs of Drs. Simon Gayther and Simon Knott! The Gayther and Knott laboratories at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles are searching for a motivated Research Associate to develop and perform high-throughput functional genomic screens with the goal of elucidating how inherited and somatic genomic alterations affect cancer progression and drug response. The candidate will work alongside other wet lab and computational scientists to develop target lists for these screening efforts, construct corresponding CRISPR reagents, perform screens and then help plan and carry out follow up experiments to validate the screen hits and assign them mechanistic context. Candidates should be proficient with cell culture, virus production and infections, DNA and RNA extractions, PCRs and next generation sequencing library generation. Though not a requirement, experience performing high-throughput screens is highly preferred. May be requested by PI to take on specific supervisory activities, and provide administrative leadership, and/or technical expertise. May develop hypothesis and assist in planning steps for the investigative process. Will review and remain current on literature as it relates to clinical/research study. Coordinates all lab and/or clinical activities, including but not limited to, budgetary/financial compliance, preparation of grant proposals, and creating independent presentations.
