Primary Roles
***As TEAms are selected, these roles and responsibilities will be discussed to ensure all items are covered and individual strengths are considered as far as who is responsible for overseeing it.
Our Crew Leader is responsible for delivering character/social emotional development and mentorship. To do so, the Crew Leader develops and implements social-emotional learning strategies, helps students develop executive functioning, critical thinking and non-cognitive skills, creates and implements service projects, mentors students for academic and social-emotional development, helps students set individualized goals, and communicates with parents regarding each student’s overall progress.
Our Coach is responsible for delivering on academics and adventure. To do so, the coach plans and facilitates real world projects that bring academic and adventure standards to life. As an integral part of a coordinated team, coaches assess student work and performance, plan for and track students towards national standards mastery, coordinate appropriate student groupings to maximize differentiation, collaborate across subject areas, participate in project, assessment, fieldwork tuning protocols, plan and execute fieldwork that integrates TEA’s pillars, test, iterate and adapt our tools and technologies and communicate with parents regarding student progress, projects, and fieldwork.
Our Facilitator is the team leader for the grade-level program team. To do so, the facilitator gathers data, makes decisions and advises grade level teams to help them deliver on the school’s beliefs. This includes: project standards integration, advice on adventure, constructive adversity, and character integration into projects and fieldwork, ensuring all projects are meeting the project planning checklist criteria, advising on team teaching strategies within projects, serving as the lead for behavior and first aid, advising on/overseeing appropriate pedagogical practices, acting as the primary point person for parent issues, providing an extra layer of student and parent support, advice on student groupings and progress, facilitate cross-curricular tuning protocols and professional learning opportunities, and being lead manager for parent and student needs that need to be elevated beyond the crew leader.
