THE POSITION Under general direction of the Superintendent, provides overall leadership and assumes administrative responsibility for the planning, operation, supervision and evaluation of the divisions/departments of finance, facilities and construction, purchasing and warehousing, maintenance, transportation, food services, technology, and other administrative services. This is a Senior Management position and a member of the Superintendent's Cabinet.

Initial salary placement for new employees is customarily at step 1 ($183,522 per year) of this salary range.

Direct, manage, and provide for efficiency and effectiveness in the operations of all financial and business affairs of the district, including revenue calculation, budgeting, accounting, payroll, purchasing and related administrative areas.
Oversee district planning and supervision of the construction, renovation and maintenance of school facilities.
Define, develop and implement business and administrative services with clearly defined supporting leadership and management roles and responsibilities to achieve District goals and objectives.
Select, develop, supervise and evaluate qualified staff to effectively perform functions and provide for high standards and continuity of operations.
Attend and lead management meetings and contribute to the development of teamwork and improved services for all students.
Ensure accountability for results and high standards of performance in all assigned areas of responsibility.
Provide technical assistance, training, support and direction, as needed, to staff, programs and schools as it relates to assigned areas of responsibility.
Provide direct support to the Superintendent in any area designated, as needed, and provide direct, timely communication on any matters, emerging or otherwise, that could come before the Superintendent or the Board of Education.
Ensure the financial integrity of the District and provide for sound and effective fiscal policies, procedures and practices including multi-year budgeting and financial planning.
Provide special quarterly reports to the Superintendent and Board of Education on the financial condition of the District that are comprehensible to the public and the county.
Ensure that accounting systems comply with applicable state laws and regulations.
Work with district personnel to project student enrollments, building and facilities, energy and capital equipment needs, and other cost items for district and individual school improvement.
Provide for direct intra-departmental/division collaboration between human resources and pre-K-Adult instruction that results in the achievement of District goals.
Provide for inter and intradepartmental/division coordination and collaboration among assigned areas of responsibility with instructional programs, pre-K-12 to Adult.
Promote a positive work environment that fosters high staff morale and excellence in operations for all assigned areas.
Develop and provide for advisory feedback and consultation systems that focus on quality services and customer satisfaction.
Assist in the development and maintenance of an evaluation system designed to achieve quality control in programs and services.
Promote internal practices and standards that directly support instructional standards and school site programs.
Promote positive community relations through effective communication and involvement of community members.
Develop, implement and assess plans of action to effectively achieve annual Board of Education goals and District objectives as they relate to business and administrative services.
Oversee and coordinate the updating and development of Board and District policies, administrative regulations and monitoring systems compliance at all levels.
Drives a vehicle to various District sites for work purposes.
Performs other related duties as required.
Ideal candidates will have:
Have the ability to interpret and administer standards based instructional mandates: including the importance of being able to leverage district resources in support of student achievement.
Be able to plan, organize, control and direct complex technical operations and program management activities involving coordination of efforts of multiple specialized units in the District.
Be willing to promote and lead staff ensuring that clear, challenging, and attainable goals are set and are aligned with goals of the School District.
Communicate effectively with the Board of Education members, staff, the business community and governmental agencies both orally and in writing.
Exercise tact, diplomacy and recognize political and priority implications in developing and implementing programs and strategies.
Education: Master's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Business or Educational Administration or closely related are; a Doctoral Degree is desirable.
Experience: 7 years of management experience which includes 5 years of school district administrative level experience in District operation support services and administrative service management; experience in a large school district as an Assistant Superintendent is desirable.
Possession of a valid California Class C Driver License.
Evidence of adequate insurance for a motor vehicle, which meets or exceeds the California legal liability insurance requirement and continue to maintain insurability.
Use of an automobile.
Additional Salary Information: The salary for the Associate Superintendent, Business Services is up to $214,647 annually. Hacienda La Puente USD offers an attractive benefits package including:
